Township Clerk’s Statutory Duties:

  • Maintains custody of all township records
  • Maintains general ledger
  • Prepares warrants for township checks
  • Records and maintains township board meeting minutes
  • Keeps the township book of oaths
  • Responsible for most board special meeting notices
  • Publishes board meeting minutes (if taxable value is $85 million in 2018, annually indexed, or a charter township)
  • Keeps voter registration file and conducts elections
  • Keeps township ordinance book
  • Prepares financial statements
  • Delivers tax certificates to supervisor and county clerk by September 30
  • Must appoint a deputy
  • Must post a surety bond

In addition to the Statutory Duties noted above, our Township Clerk acts as liaison with township employees and subcontractors, maintains the Township website, is the payroll administrator, FOIA Coordinator, and shares responsibility of managing the Township Cemetery and social media accounts with the Township Supervisor.  
 
The Au Train Township Clerk is also a Notary Public.

Au Train Township is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission. Educational opportunities will be required and offered at no expense to the applicant. 

Planning Commission members play an important role in our Township.
